Rocky Shore

How lucky were we!! We were fortunate enough to have Doug (Erasmus's dad) come and talk to our class about the what we might find on the rocky shore. We got to see and even touch many sea creatures. There were starfish, chiton, anemone, half crab, hermit crab and many more.
See if you can spot them in our photos.....

Marae Experience

Here are a few snippets from our Marae recounts.

The bus halted to a stop and the doors swung open. Slowly everyone exited the bus and we were all standing on a concrete pavement waiting for what laid ahead of us. - Olive

The warm breeze passes once and a while. Everyone starts to get in order and yelling their group number. I look up and I see someone calling to us and I can see the narrow, steep hill ahead of us. We slowly move towards her, boys following the girls. After the short walk that felt like day’s we seat on the wooden and crystal hard seat. My bones start to shiver rapidly. Then people start to stand up and move like a slimy slug in a line. I knew straight away that we were about to do the hongi. - Luke

Strength Goal Sharing

Thank you Luca for sharing your wonderful and informative power point about Manuel Neuer the Sweeper Keeper!

Technology Challenge

Task
The task was to design and build a model of a ramp with as many twists and turns as possible. The ramp needed to be at least 30cm off the ground and should carry a marble down to ground level. The marble must then roll across the floor (1 metre) to hit a target (checkpoint) 10cm wide. The groups then had 25-30 minutes to make it.

Points were be given for accuracy (hitting the target) and a point each for the number of times the marble changes direction.

Materials
  • 15 sheets of newspaper
  • 1 roll of sticky tape
  • 3 sheet of A4 card
  • 1 marble
Well done to Erasmus, Amani, Connor and Daniel ( The Tower of Terror) for their winning entry!!

Anzac Art

This term Room 13 have created effective Anzac art using silhouettes. To create our art we came up with an image that represented what Anzac meant to us and then used three colours to make it stand out. Some of the words that we have tried to symbolise include remembrance, peace, loss and hope.
